There’s something about spring on the Central Coast that just calls for a picnic.
Longer days, greener landscapes, and just enough sunshine to make you want to stay outside a little longer.
Here are some of the best picnic spots in SLO County whether you’re planning something casual or making a full day of it.
A local favorite with wide-open space, lake views, and plenty of shaded areas. Great for families, dog owners, or a relaxed afternoon.
Located in the heart of Atascadero, this park offers walking paths, ducks, and picnic tables under mature trees. It’s an easy, low-key spot for a laid-back outing.
If you want ocean views and grassy space, Avila delivers. It’s one of the few beaches in the county where you can picnic right near the sand.
Right in the center of Paso Robles, this park is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms. Ideal if you want to mix a picnic with wine country exploring.
For something quieter, head to Cambria. Blufftop areas near Moonstone Beach offer dramatic ocean views and a more peaceful setting.
Picnics here aren’t complicated. Good food, fresh air, and a view that’s all you really need.
And in SLO County, you’re never far from all three.
