People see the sold signs, the sunsets, the open houses with charcuterie vibes.
Cute. Love that for Instagram.
But the real job?
It’s equal parts grit, problem-solving, emotional endurance, and answering your phone in the Target parking lot like your life depends on it.
Here’s what being a SLO County real estate expert actually looks like:
Deals fall apart. Inspections get weird. Appraisals do whatever they want.
My job?
Stay two steps ahead.
Keep the deal alive.
Find a solution even when it feels like there isn’t one.
Getting you across the finish line is the standard — not the exception.
Some clients become friends. Some become family.
Some send Christmas cards, baby announcements, and random texts about paint colors years later.
Those relationships are the best part of this career — hands down.
Hours of showings.
Follow-up calls.
Late-night searches.
Strategy talks.
And then?
Silence.
It happens. It stings.
But you shake it off and keep helping the people who do show up.
One minute I’m writing a counteroffer worth hundreds of thousands…
The next, I’m inhaling a burrito in my front seat between showings.
This job is glamorous in the most unglamorous ways.
You learn to multitask like a seasoned professional — because you have to.
No cubicle. No clock to punch. No dress code.
You build your own business.
You set your own standards.
You create a life you’re proud of.
Being your own boss also means your phone is your boss.
If it rings, you answer. If it pings, you look.
Because timing matters — and opportunities don’t wait.
This career demands heart, hustle, and consistency on a level most people will never see.
And even on the longest days, the tired days, the “are we serious right now?” days…
I love this work.
I love this community.
And I show up for my people — every single day.
👋 I’m Amber Johnson (DRE#01925434) — your SLO County real estate expert.
If you’re planning to buy or sell, I’m here to guide you with honesty, strategy, and serious commitment.
