For a long time, I thought slowing down meant taking a vacation.

Leaving town.

I live in a place that makes slowing down a little easier.

Sometimes all it takes is an hour.

I've learned that I don't always need a full day off.

Sometimes I just need to choose a place that reminds me not to rush.

These are the places I find myself going when I need exactly that.

City Park in Paso Robles

There are plenty of beautiful parks in California.

This one just feels familiar.

I like getting there before lunchtime.

Grab a coffee from downtown.

Find a bench beneath one of the old oak trees.

Watch the town wake up.

Kids run through the grass.

People meet friends for lunch.

Dogs pull their owners toward squirrels they have absolutely no chance of catching.
