One of the best ways to experience SLO County? On two wheels.
With ocean views, vineyard backroads, and paved coastal trails, the Central Coast is incredibly bike-friendly, whether you’re a casual cruiser or a weekend warrior.
Here are some of the best scenic rides in the county.
One of the most popular and accessible paved trails in the county. The Bob Jones Trail runs from San Luis Obispo to Avila Beach and follows San Luis Obispo Creek. It’s mostly flat and perfect for families.
Cruise along the waterfront with views of Morro Rock, fishing boats, and sea otters. It’s relaxed, scenic, and ideal for an easy afternoon ride.
For experienced riders, the rolling roads around Adelaida and Templeton offer vineyard views and quiet country stretches. Mornings are best for lighter traffic.
Managed by the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County, this area offers mountain biking trails with sweeping ocean views.
Cycling here isn’t just exercise. It’s immersion in coastline, farmland, and open space.
And that’s what makes it so special.
