Nestled just steps from the sand in Avila Beach, the Central Coast Aquarium offers a hands-on marine experience that’s perfect for families, students, and ocean enthusiasts alike. Founded with the goal of fostering ocean stewardship, the Central Coast Aquarium is dedicated to educating visitors about the rich marine ecosystems of California’s Central Coast. Through interactive exhibits and engaging programs, the aquarium inspires a deeper understanding and appreciation of our oceans.
The aquarium features 16 exhibits showcasing over 75 species native to the Central Coast. Visitors can explore touch tanks, observe swell sharks, and attend daily feedings. Educational programs like the Discovery Lab and Floating Lab offer immersive learning experiences for all ages.
Beyond its exhibits, the aquarium hosts a variety of community events and programs, including seasonal camps, adult education nights, and volunteer opportunities. These initiatives not only educate but also strengthen community ties and promote environmental responsibility.
Hours: Open Thursday through Monday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Admission: Adults (13-59): $10; Children (3-12): $8; Seniors and Military (with ID): $7; Children under 2: Free.
